Life With Bear

I've introduced this little naughty to the blog before but he hasn't made an appearance in a while. His name is Leopold B. Bear and boy oh boy does he get up to some mischief.

So yesterday, I woke up, washed my hair, did some study and cooked a large pot of mince meat for lunch with my sister. After I turned the stove off, I took Leo Bear out of his cage for some play time, forgetting to put the lid on the pot of meat. Big Mistake.
The first thing he does is make a beeline for the pot, lands straight in it, smears his feathers with the sauce, fly's back out and lands on my head covering my freshly washed hair with it too :( :(
So of course, I ran a warm bath for him in the sink so he could clean up but he wasn't too amused by it and put up a tantrum the whole while. He's busy drying off in the picture and you can see, the feathers on his belly are still a little bit stained.
All I can do now is laugh about it! He gets away with so much just because he's a cutie.

First off, I'm sorry some of the images from the previous post on the Rodarte collection did not work. But I have them fixed now (I think). I'm really not very tech savvy but I hope they work for everybody and not just me now.

Secondly, I've decided I don't show nearly enough of me on this blog for it to really be my personal style and my life. SO here's to amending that. My life isn't too fancy by any means but I'll do my best to make this a better representation of what it is rather than simply a series of sartorial inspiration from various runways and look-books. It was my 19th birthday two days ago and I'm having a few friends around on the weekend to celebrate with me so I'll certainly have more photos then.

Thirdly. I have a (huge) blogger crush on Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper, but then, who doesn't? Her style is just so spectacular and her life, overseeing her online vintage shop and zipping around between Fashion Weeks all over the world has me green with envy. I feel so inspired by her and she makes my desire to work in fashion all the more intense !!

Rodarte, Spring 2012

Just a few things from Rodarte s/s 12 that I love too much. Catch a glimpse of that fabulous excess inspired by Van Gogh! Somehow these pieces just ooze luxury and simplicity for me all at once and I don't even know how. They're just very fun to look at. 

In other news, student life has been treating me no differently than usual. I'm unsure of where I'm bound or what I might do with my course. I'm just going through that "what the heck am I doing with the rest of my life" panic moment where I realise I have to make important, adult decisions about my future. It's still all up in the air, but I'll be sure to blog all about it when I've got something more concrete figured out.

Alice McCall

Things have been pretty quiet over in this little space but they've never been very noisy anyway. I've been keeping myself busy with university work and have no great news to report on unfortunately. But! Summer is just around the corner and though I've never been one to get truly excited about the stinking hot days it brings, I am pretty pumped for the long break before the new semester. I can't wait for all those sultry afternoons exploring the city with my pals, sipping on home-made ice tea and catching up on some well earned laziness. Fingers crossed I can convince some of them to snap a few outfit photos for me along the way because I know I'm lacking in that department.

Anyhow, here's the Alice McCall collection from 2012 as seen on the runway. I particularly love how lightweight and soft the fabrics look.

Kate Sylvester

Okay, so I won't bother going on and on about my nearly 2 month absence on this little blog as my excuses are merely that, excuses. The point is I'm back until I get distracted again (which hopefully doesn't happen.)

Today I bring you a lookbook from Kate Sylvester. Now I do find this campaign a bit strange as there's a lot of sexual dominance happening. I believe the theme was sexual harassment in the workforce. But if you look past that, the collection and design is pretty snazzy. I especially love all those sheer tights with simplistic, eye-catching details. The collection as a whole pays close attention to detail, be it in the way a collar sits on blouses and coats or the manner of knotting rope in some pieces. I like the idea of using rope in clothing, it's something I'd like to try exploring.

Let me know how you'd go about experimenting with rope.

Cue A/W 2012

This is the A/W 2012 collection by Cue. The thing I love about this brand is that they're consistent, season after season they produce really wearable fashion. Clothes that are practical and edgy and feminine and just generally awesome. I remember when I was little I used to wander around the Cue display at Myers and tell my mum when I grew up, those were the clothes I'd wear, so I always get a little excited when I walk through them now knowing I can actually wear them.  

Anyhow, I really like the sharp look about this season, there are some real power pieces mixed in there. The collection is very feminine in the most modern way possible- a reflection of the 21st century woman I think, in control of herself entirely.

Sass and Bide A/W 2012, "Seekerstate"

Okay so I know this is a very, VERY picture heavy post (understatement) but just looooook at all those beautiful clothes! These are a few most of the images from Sass and Bides A/W 2012 lookbook called "Seekerstate." I want every jacket and every pair of pants featured in all of the above. Dream on, I know, but dream I will! Everything is just so colourful and exuberant, even the black and whites. I especially like the forest and woodland in the background. Nature is usually the signpost of spring and summer campaigns but those brazen rays of sunlight filtering awkwardly through the canopy have me thinking of crisp, autumn and winter mornings, golden and hurried.
