Autumn/ Winter 2012: Alannah Hill

I'm in love with the new Alannah Hill A/W '12 campaign. It's got me reminiscing on the classic elements of age-old fairy tales; namely dark forests, poisoned apples, and slightly mad and extravagantly dressed witches. Each picture exudes a sort of make-believe, magic-esque charm which makes me want to don a fancy frock, bedecked with lace and bows and traipse around a forest. I think the pieces in this collection, each being so full on,(all those frills!) would be challenging but super fun to style.

Autumn/ Winter 2012: Karla Spetic

I can't believe how ridiculously cool Karla Spetic's A/W 2012 collection is! I particularly like the comic strip prints which I've been in love with for ages (I've always wanted a handbag or wallet with a similar design.) I really admire how the collection allows the boldness of the print to co-exit with the delicacy of the organza skirts.  Also, I just can't get past those yellow and
brown oxfords.

Hoping everyone had a wonderful day,

A.

In the Summer

Know this:
I live beast days. I am a water hour.
At night my eyelids droop like forest and sky.
My love knows few words:
I like it in your blood.

Jeans - thrifted, Belt - bought at a small shop in Malaysia, T-shirt - Levis, Bag -  bargain find at a Bazaar in India, Shoes - Gamins.

Meet Leopold

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I've established myself at Bloglovin' now which is pretty awesome. I've already whiled away the better part of the day scouring through the several hundred blogs now available at my viewing pleasure.

In other news, I'd like to introduce you to my valentine, Leopold (even though I'm two days late.) Pictured here a little bit wet and a lot bit cute after his first encounter with a spray bottle shower.

We shared a romantic, sun-lit breakfast of cornflakes, after which he pooed on my shoulder and chewed on my necklace. Isn't he the sweetest?

I also have my first outfit post today!! I recently acquired this dress when my family visited Malaysia on our way back from India (I'll make a travel post about it soon.) The dress was in this beautiful but tiny store filled with vintage treasures which I unfortunately didn't have the foresight to take pictures of for the blog. I apologise for the crappy setting for the photos but I currently have no tripod to mount my camera and so have to manage with balancing it on a stack of books on my dresser.

I absolutely love the royal blue and the little brown leaves cascading down. It gets me longing for the return of breezy autumn days, short in light but full in colour. I know I missed the greater part of it, and I know it's not too bad this year, but I'm pretty well over Australian summer. I think the way the belt clasp and the buttons running up the side complement each other and don't get in each others way is really what makes this dress work so well.

The shoes are Verali and were a gift from two of my closest friends for my birthday last year. The bag is Sportsgirl.

I hope you had a brilliant day :)

Academia

SO, I did something pretty gosh darn exciting today :) I enrolled at the University of Sydney for my first year of undergraduate study, pretty nifty huh? Exciting times lay ahead! I'm thoroughly psyched about walking around the incredible campus all day with all that old, stone architecture, it's like going to school in a medieval European castle!  Perhaps it is a little shallow but I'm a tad more excited about wearing my own clothes everyday rather than a uniform like I've had to for 13 years. Of course I'll regret saying that one week into the start of classes when that dreaded symptom of 'too many clothes, but nothing to wear occurs. There's just no winning, is there?

Hogwarts, anyone?

Pretty as a Picture

So today I’ve been in a rather creative mood which resulted in clearing my room of old posters I no longer admire to create a blank canvas. Then I stopped, having nothing to fill said canvas with. And so I did what everybody does, log into Etsy - a never ending source of wonder and procrastination. A quick scroll through my list of favourite items led me to reacquaint myself with the wonderful works of Lisa Kaser. Her illustrations are so quirky and adorable with an aesthetic that reminds me of children’s picture books (which is certainly not a bad thing to be reminded of!)

I would definitely not mind hanging a few of these sweet prints around my bedroom.

How can you not love them!?
These, and many more of Lisa Kasers fabulous illustrations can be found/purchased here and here

Genesis

Hello all! I'm Amanda,a student from Sydney. Having recently graduated from high school and finding a little extra time on my hands I've decided to create my own little corner of the internet filled with inspiration, adventure, personal style, and anything else I fancy along the way, following in the footsteps of those bloggers I spend ages upon ages admiring. So without further adieu, let the  merriment begin

To start off, I thought I'd share with you a few little things I find oh so fabulous from around the internet!

1. This quirky 'bow tie necklace' from Jessamity

2. The 'Comme Il Faut Dress' from BHLDN. Yes yes, I know it's from a bridal collection but it's just so wearable in a non-wedding context. In any case, its black and white film aesthetic has me swooning.

3. These Blue Stone Beads from Piedra

4. The 'Weekend @ Bernie's' sunglasses in clear from Bonlook, I've had a bit of a crush on these for a while now.

5. A pair of these mustard yellow, 'Fun in your forecast' Jeffrey Campbell boots that remind me of sunshine and lollipops and rainbows and happiness! And more sunshine.

6. And finally, this 'Love you deer-ly' brooch from Modcloth which I love dearly :)
